OVER £1,600 RAISED DURING HOPE’S FIRST EVER SLEEP OUT

Hope’s brilliant supporters have raised over £1,600 by taking part in the first-ever Sleep Out for Hope.

On Friday 4th December, fundraisers braved the snow and freezing temperatures to ‘sleep out’ for a night, raising funds and awareness of homeless people.

A Sleep Out is usually a community-based event, but as the pandemic limited social gatherings. this year’s event had to be arranged from people’s homes. Despite this, fundraisers rose to the challenge, sleeping in gardens, garages, bathtubs, on kitchen floors and more.

In total, they managed to raise £1,646, which will be used to provide shelter and support for homeless people over Christmas and the upcoming winter months.

Katie Chubb, Development Officer for Hope said;

“This is the first time we’ve run a Sleep Out event and we’re so grateful for people getting on board, despite it being a home-based event.

Although it’s been a challenging year of fundraising, thanks to the public’s generous donations we’ve managed to raise over £5,000 for Hope through our fundraising events and appeals.

“To every person that donated- thank you so much. You have made a huge difference to the lives of homeless people this year.”
