          The Furniture Project

The furniture project continues to provide free referral furniture to those who are in crisis, in 2010 we gave away 1188 items;  and sell low cost furniture throughout the Bassetlaw area to anyone who needs it.

During the year of 2010, the project collected 1686 items, equalling 140.5 tonnes, out of this we recycled 85.5 tonnes. We also continue to recycle rags and metal, which we collected from around the area of Bassetlaw.
The items available in the project are good quality and low priced, comments have been made by customers on how affordable the items are, ranging from; 3 piece suites, double beds, down to walking sticks. Our vans go out collecting 5 day a week, collecting items of furniture, clothing and bric a brac from member of the public.  Other than collecting furniture, we carry out House Clearances and Removals.

          Our New Furniture Shop

On Bridge Street we have acquired a new project to sell on new and reconditioned furniture and household goods.  The items for sale in this shop are high quality unusual goods for the discerning shopper.  We are hoping to expand this project in 2011.
Opening hours are Monday to Friday 9:00 am till 4:15 pm. Saturday 9:00 am 3:00 pm.

PAT testing of electrical equipment continues, we have a number of organisations who come back year after year to use our reasonable priced service, producing more finance for the charity. In 2010 we PAT Tested 753  items and sold many of these electrical items.

We have ten staff at present, made up of two Fulltime staff, three part-time staff and five staff on the In-House Training Scheme, along with four regular volunteers.

We also provide a placement scheme working with the Training Bodies within the area, along with these organisations we provide placements for the local schools in the area, working with Portland and Valley Schools in Worksop to provide the students with the experience of a working environment.

To continue to progress in the way we have, we need to increase our collections.  We continue to strive to improve our project, but we do need the support of the general public in Bassetlaw to increase  the donation of items of furniture and clothing.  As a local charity we continue to rely on them and we are also grateful for their continued support .
