Move on accomodation
Our move on accommodation consist of 2 supported living projects, the first project is Smith House which provides a high level of support, and the second project is Martin House which provides a lower level of support.
SMITH HOUSE has been managed by HOPE since 2008, and is situated on Watson Road in Worksop town centre, just across the road from the Day Service and Emergency Accommodation. The project is a 3 storey property divided into a 2 bedroom and a 4 bedroom flat, providing 6 single rooms with communal kitchens, bathrooms, and rear garden. The garden is currently being transformed into a vegetable garden which residents will be encouraged and supported to maintain. The rooms are let as single persons, self catering, semi independent with 24 hour access to support.
MARTIN HOUSE has been managed by HOPE since 2004, it is situated in a small village called Hodthorpe in the District of Bolsover, just 3 miles away from Worksop. The project is a complex of 12 single person, self contained flats, one of which is retained as an on site office and is staffed regularly throughout the week, there is also a large communal garden and a parking area to the side of the complex. Martin House to date has successfully housed 46 vulnerable adults.
Referrals for Smith House and Martin house are welcomed from all outside agencies as well as from HOPE’s emergency accommodation and Housing Advice service. The majority of our residents come to us as a result of becoming socially excluded and homeless, this is usually due to the various barriers our residents need to overcome such as drug, alcohol, mental health issues, and offending histories, these often leading to relationship breakdowns with partners, family and friends. Our supported living projects work in a service user led manner to identify individual needs and find the most appropriate and productive methods of meeting these needs, once identified we will refer, signpost and support tenants to work with other agencies and professionals to address any health, legal, financial, education and employments needs alongside Hope support.
As part of supported living our projects teach tenants basic life skills such as:
Cooking, Budgeting and debt management, Shopping, Housekeeping and Personal hygiene.
We also encourage tenants to attend all HOPE’s Day Service courses, and as part of the move on process our Housing Advice service works with tenants once they are ready, to obtain appropriate permanent accommodation, referring on to floating support services where required once move on has been achieved.
The overall aim of our supported living projects is to enable tenants to return to living positively within the community.
